Colornoise: She Was Machine

Costa Rican noise rock band and FZB favorites, Colornoise are back with a new single, She Was Machine, as a preview of their upcoming album. The track is absolutely huge! Huge vocals, huge guitars, huge drums, make this track powerful enough to take the paint off your walls. It is as perfect a single rock track, as we have heard this year. Sciencevision: States Of Vividity

Indiana based band Sciencevision have released a massive eighteen track album, States Of Vividity. The tracks unfortunately are unintelligible. Many bands have used a lo-fi sound to convery the rawness and edginess of their music. For this album, the band has used lo-fi as an overriding sound statement and it frankly sucks. On this album, lo-fi, is simply terrible production, which hides the music, diminishes the songs that are there somewhere, but are totally destroyed by the misguided production values. Forrest Managment/Dominic Coppola: Opening Night

Opening Night is the just released split cassette from Forrest Management, aka John Daniel and FZB favorite Dominic Coppola. The two extended works weave together a journey through ambient landscapes of melody and texture, subtlety and starkness. The pieces are always moving, yet are transfixed in the experience with the listener in an intimate, aurally evocative way. Musically adept, and with pristine production, the album is a must have. Sounds of Sputnik: New Born

New Born is the latest album from Russian shoegaze artist, Sounds of Sputnik. The thirteen tracks are dense and heavy, with plenty of edge to go around. Wilder Gonzales Agreda: Scala Mega Hertz

Based in Limsa, Peru, artist/producer Wilder Gonzales Agreda has released his new album, Scala Mega Hertz, on Superspace Records. The seven tracks are unique and original experimental music, featuring drones, synths and a myriad of sounds that defy definition. Harold Nono: Ideeit

Ideeit is the new album by Harold Nono, released on Scotish indie label Bearsuit Records. This record, Nono's fifth, is the elctronic ambient world equivalent to classical music. It has a true symphonic sense in terms of camparisons such as gret "modern" composer Charles Ives. The tracks on this album are complex thematically, but yet melodic and accessible. Ontario band Don Vail have released their sophomore album, Fades. The eight tracks are tight, energetic indie rock, with some of the tastiest songs that have passed through our ears in a while. This album is marked by sterling production and an overall sound that just demands the listeners attention. just one of the best sounding albums this year. This is a must have. The Red Hill Valleys: The Red Hill Valleys

Canadian group, The Redhill Valleys, have just released their self titled debut album. The twelve tracks take the classic 1970's L.A. sound and update it into an indie folk sound of superlative beauty. With tight harmonies, and classic singer/songwriter styling, that towers above an indie scene, where folk rock is locked into the mundane repetitions of of the same cliches. 7faz: Faza A

Faza A is the debut EP from Polish band 7faz. The two tracks span over 18 minutes of music, from this nine member ensemble. With droning sitar, heavy guitar, ambient vibes and dark synth pads, the EP is a bit of a mishmash of sound. More of a tonal poem stylistically than cohesive songs, this EP is for listeners that like their music experiment and unique, without the need for obvious melody or conventional structures. Great Outdoors: Dad's Oasis

Dad's Oasis is the debut album from Australian band, Great Outdoors. The nine tracks are characterized by silky smooth indie rock, with lush melodic guitars and intimate vocals. The music is understated, content to be followed, rather than to lead. This gives the songs a personal feel, to match their sonic expression. A very solid debut record. Crystal Shipsss: Holly

Readers of this blog will be familiar with FZB favorite Jacob Faurholt and his Crystal Shipsss project. Faurholt is a prolific singer/ songwriter, with an impeccable sense of melody, production and song construction. He has now released his fourth Crystal Shipsss album, Holly. The eight tracks again show a serene pop sensibility with wonderful songs of love and longing, all with a slight lo-fi sheen. Faurholt has been one of or favorite artists for almost the entire 5 year life of this blog, having first graced our pages in September of 2011.
