People. Nature. Death. is the new album from Chicago's Bashful Hips, aka singer/songwriter Ian Fellerman. The twelve tracks showcase compelling songwriting, set in a bed of original indie rock arrangements. This is an artist that has bucked the trend of totally derivative indie and found his own sound, which greatly enhances the depth of the lyrics. That said the songs are not catchy and the album unfolds with a feeling of not being able to hang on to the sound. It's just sort of there, with one never feeling too engaged with it.
