After releasing several 7" singles, Fort Wayne, IN based indie rockers, Streetlamps for Spotlights, have released their debut full length, Sound and Color. The twelve tracks are a grungy and noisy romp through guitar driven rock. The band's classic three piece lineup lends itself perfectly to their sound, giving the album a nice live feel, while not sacrificing studio production quality. A very fine debut album from the band. Sunday Guts: Cool Music

COOL MUSIC cover art

Cool Music is the aptly named new EP from Bethlehem, PA band Sunday Guts. The band describes their sound as spiffy guitar pop and we couldn't agree more. The four tracks are a good reminder of why we used to like bands like Weezer. Sunday guts play post-punky guitar pop music, presented in a lighthearted, unpretentious way. This EP is just a good band, doing good music....it's spiffy. This Book Is My Cowardice is the new album from Florida indie quartet Lavola. The band of Julian Cires, Emily Dwyer, Paul DeFilippis and Matt Cabrera offer us some of the most imaginative rock in a while. The band manages to bring together elements from such disparate genres as progressive rock, punk and post-hardcore to deliver a record that transcends all of the foregoing.
